If you are running a blog/site of your own, traffic is a necessity. For those of you that do not know what traffic is, put simply, it is the term used for when vast amounts of people go to your site and click around. Starting a blog can be very frustrating. You spend hours setting it up, hours blogging, and then find out only your mom and your best friend is reading what you have to say. All of this can cause a person to stop blogging, but I will show you how to get lots of traffic, all for free.

10.SUBMIT YOUR SITE TO SEARCH ENGINES
Everyone uses Google. To get your blog a steady stream of endless traffic, you need your site on Google, Yahoo, and MSN.Submit them by clicking the links. All of these are free, and the more content on your site, there will be more web surfers that find you this way.

9.BLOG ABOUT SOMETHING INTERESTING
Ask yourself why anyone would want to read what you have written. Is it funny? Is there some sense of humor in it? Does it make people laugh? Is it supposed to make people laugh? What if you are trying to change someone’s opinion? Do you back up your facts? Show undeniable truths to prove your point. Make it something someone would want to read, instead of something someone would have to read, like those books in your 11th grade English class.

8.BLOG ABOUT WHAT YOU KNOW
Supposedly a lot of people blog about something they have no clue about. The main reason for this is because they use Google Adsense, and want ads that pay several dollars a click, so they blog about things they don’t understand. Would you like to listen to someone explain something they don’t understand?

7.BLOG OFTEN
Chances are, if you get a few users to read your blog, and they like what they see, they will visit again sometime within the next week. What if you have nothing new? They probably won’t ever check your site out again. If you do have something new, chances are they will continue to go to your site, and a few of them will even show others. Make a schedule. Try to blog every few days, or at least once a week. If you don’t have anything to write about, maybe you shouldn’t be blogging.

6.READ OTHER PEOPLE’S BLOGS, AND COMMENT ON THEM TOO.
In the year 2007, there is a blog for everything. Find a blog that you agree with, and subscribe to it. If you don’t know what RSS is, Google it, we live in the 21st century now! Read the person’s posts, comment on them. Chances are, if you comment on someone’s blog, they will check out your blog and comment too. Put the blog on your blogroll, if you are getting decent enough traffic, maybe some will click your blogroll to their site, and then that person will put you on their blogroll, its called link exchanging. You wouldn’t go to a party and expect everyone to come to you, first you must show people you are there, and make a name for yourself. You have to have people know that you are there.

5.MAKE YOUR SITE LOOK NICE
I can’t think of anything more annoying than going to a site and having to look for something you know is there. Why do some sites try to look like a Myspace profile? You know what I am talking about, horrific images as the background, text the same color, so bad you can’t even read that they have to write. Random text links, and even more random image links. Organize your blog! Keep it in order, blog the same way everyday! A bunch of people wouldn’t come into your room if it is a complete mess, so why do you think people want to visit a blog that hurts their eyes?

4.USE DIGG
If you don’t know what Digg is, it is a socially driven news network. You submit whatever sites you want, and if people like what you submit, they digg it. They more diggs, the more people see it. Get enough diggs, it hits the front page. The front page can equal thousands of veiws within several hours. A lot of sites can’t take it, and die. This is known as the Digg effect. While it is a great way to get a lot of viewers really fast, it isn’t a great way to keep traffic. After a while, you just become another spec of sand on the beach. However, it can be good for adding on some really faithful viewers. They will read everything you write, comment on them, even blog about you. That’s right, people will blog about you.

3.USE STUMBLEUPON

StumbleUpon is a little like Digg, but it gives you a more permanent effect. For one thing, you install a small toolbar into Firefox, then whatever site you go to you can either give a thumbs up, or a thumbs down. The more people that give it a thumbs up, the more people that will see the page. Give your own site a thumbs up, review it, and after a while you can get a very steady stream of traffic. On average, I get about 300 views a day from StumbleUpon alone. It also has a group for every topic imaginable. Join a group, and talk about pages that fit the topic. A great way to learn everything about any topic you can think of.

2.BLOG ABOUT LINUX, DIGG, GOOGLE, FIREFOX, OR APPLE.
Apparently any of these is a guaranteed way to fame. Each has a fan base the size of New York City, and each of the members would gladly die for their cause. How many TOP 10 TEN FIREFOX EXTENSIONS have you seen? Thats right, time after time, people fall in love with these topics. You probably need to join a forum or Google group to get noticed this way, but trust me, it works. If you really want to get famous, start making fun of Microsoft, or their Internet Explorer. People will flock to be friends with you, and your traffic explode!

1.BLOG EXPLOSION!

No, this isn’t a term used to describe winning at blogging, but is actually a site that will give you permanent traffic. BlogExplosion is a site that you join, add your blog, and then play games with it. Yes, thats right, you play games with your blog. One of them is Battle of the Blogs. Wager credits, and if you win because your blog was better than the other guy’s, you get the credits. You spend the credits on traffic, because you pay the credits to people that view your blog. Earn more credits by having other users to pay you credits to veiw their blog. It’s like capitalism, only cheaper.
